High thermal resistance: The main characteristic of the PC Tech filament is its great resistance to temperature. This filament can reach 140º without deforming or losing properties.

Superior mechanical properties: Polycarbonate is a material with extremely high impact resistance. It is also a very rigid material that can withstand great tension without deforming.

Suitable for medical applications: Due to its high temperature resistance, PCT polycarbonate filaments can be subjected to thermal sterilization methods and therefore suitable for use in medical applications.

Technical and engineering applications: The extraordinary properties of polycarbonate make it a technical filament that reaches its maximum usefulness in engineering projects and other advanced applications.

FFF world PC Tech is a FDM/FFF 3D print polycarbonate filament with unique features designed for technical applications.

The differential characteristic of polycarbonate is its resistance to temperature and can reach 140 degrees without deforming or losing properties. Therefore it is susceptible to be styrided with thermal methods and this makes it suitable for certain medical and sanitary applications.

Some of its advantages are:

  • Extremely high impact resistance.
  • Great transparency.
  • High resistance and stiffness.
  • High resistance to thermal deformation.
  • High dimensional stability, i.e. high creep resistance.
  • Good electrical insulation properties.
  • High resistance to weathering, with protection against ultraviolet rays.

The polycarbonate presents some challenges at the time of printing.

It is necessary to extrude it to a temperature of between 270 and 300º limiting its compatibility with many hot-ends that are not designed to reach these temperatures.

In addition its thermodilation index is high resulting in a strong warping effect and making necessary the use of hot bed at a temperature of at least 100º.

Finally it is a hygroscopic material that absorbs moisture so it must be carefully preserved. In this sense it is recommended that the filament remain in its container in the void until the moment of use and to be stored in a dry place.
